Special Print Editions

These special prints were created and published with the intention of being donated to those who could benefit from the power of my story. I have been through the trials of a young chef and have also been someone who fought with addiction. I even grew up with a father who struggled with demons that lead to his early passing. In an effort to help those who are struggling or those who are unsure of what lies ahead for them in the world of food, I created these abridged special editions of my book to focus on their paths. I have included some unpublished chapters in The Raw Lessons from a Chef Life as well to help my young culinarians with some advice from a leader who has been through the fire and is still standing.

They are published and available for lowest price I was able to list them for by the self-publishing company. They are sold at cost with essentially no royalites to me. It’s not about making money, it’s about helping the cause. If you know a young person looking to get into food or know someone fighting with addiction, maybe these could serve as a thoughtful gift.

The Raw Lessons From a Chef’s Life:

A Gift For Future Kitchen Leaders

In The Raw Lessons from a Chef's Life, veteran chef and author Moses Hernandez offers a powerful and personal collection of insights drawn from nearly three decades in the kitchen. This special abridged edition, adapted from his memoir The Raw Journey: A Chef's Honest Path Towards Growth, is crafted specifically for the next generation of culinary professionals-line cooks, dishwashers, sous chefs, and aspiring leaders alike.

Hernandez's journey has taken him through restaurants, casinos, hospitals, monasteries, nursing homes, and elite private schools. Along the way, he battled addiction, overcame obesity, found sobriety, and rediscovered purpose. Through it all, the kitchen remained both sanctuary and proving ground-a place where grit, humility, and discipline shaped not only his craft but his character.

This edition is more than just a reflection-it's a gift. A raw, honest offering of lessons learned, mistakes made, and wisdom earned. With heart, humor, and hard truth, Hernandez encourages young culinarians to lead with integrity, embrace growth, and carve out their own paths in a demanding yet deeply rewarding industry..

This special edition of The Raw Truth from an Addicted Chef was created for those in the fight-whether you're in recovery, behind bars, in a rehab center, or just trying to find your way back to yourself. These selected chapters were chosen to speak directly to the struggle, the spiral, and the climb. It's not polished, it's not sugar-coated-it's raw, real, and written by someone who's lived it.
